In lane no. 3 rests the Breton General Georges Boulanger, who committed suicide at the grave of his girlfriend, Marguerite de Bonnemains. According to some sources, she is said to have died of tuberculosis. General Georges Boulanger was exiled from France because he belonged to a coalition of royalists who wanted to overthrow the republic.
In the Elsenen Cemetery lie many other famous individuals such as Constantin Meunier, Paul Nougé, Antoine Wiertz, Victor Horta, Neel Doff, Charles De Coster, and Camille Lemonnier.
