Relive the fiesta of the Stieweg! Once organized in honor of a legend, the parties faded away, only to be held later as an 'invented tradition'. These celebrations have been a thing of the past for years, but now it is time to bring them back to life! Daring lamèren, street theater, and traditional competitions such as sack races, wheelbarrow races, and stilt walking as well as tug-of-war will be part of the festivities. Even the traditional folk dance, folk games, and the 'pie by the meter' at the long table will come to life again in Halle! So don’t miss this! exhibition: Fiesta of the Stieweg
Discover the Sint-Rochus folklore. This playful exhibition showcases all the ingredients of a great celebration: a parade with giants, an ambiguous speech, cozy dining with music and dance. Discover how these Fiesta were invented and reinvented. Search for your costumed grandfather in the digital image collection. But take everything with a grain of salt, because how reliable are memories?
