Izegem has a famous cycling son: Johan Bruyneel. He was born on August 23, 1964. He is a former Belgian cyclist who, after his sporting career, was active as a team manager for various cycling teams, including US Postal (later Discovery) and RadioShack. After his professional cycling career, Bruyneel became the team manager for the US Postal Service team. He became known as the strategist behind Lance Armstrong's successes.
