Moorsele is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders. Moorsele was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization and, just like the neighboring municipality of Gullegem, has been a part of Wevelgem since 1977. The name Moorsele originates from Mortsella, which is a combination of the Frankish sella and the Celtic mort or maret. The first part, mort, means high, while sella is Frankish for a hut. Thus, the name referred to a high location of huts and other buildings.
