Winksele is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Flemish Brabant. From 1133 Winksele is mentioned as a village in various documents. Until 1977 Winksele, together with the hamlet of Delle, was an independent municipality, after which it became a part of Herent. Winksele should not be confused with Wilsele, a nearby borough of the city of Leuven. Winksele is located two 'mountains' away from the old city walls of Leuven: the Calvary and the IJzerenberg.
