Winksele is een voormalige gemeente in de provincie Vlaams-Brabant. Vanaf 1133 wordt Winksele in verschillende documenten als dorp vermeld. Tot 1977 was Winksele, samen met het gehucht Delle een zelfstandige gemeente, waarna het een deelgemeente werd van Herent. Winksele dient niet verward te worden met Wilsele, een nabijgelegen deelgemeente van de stad Leuven. Winksele ligt twee 'bergen' verwijderd van de oude stadsmuren van Leuven: de Calvarieberg en de IJzerenberg.
