Here in the restaurant Belle-Vue, Lucien van Impe had dinner in 2003 with a former colleague from the cycling world. Nothing strange in itself, were it not for the fact that this was a person who claimed to be José Manuel Fuente, and that José Manuel Fuente had officially been dead for seven years at that moment. Lucien looks him in the eyes and doesn't know what he sees. Has his old rival really staged his own death? Or is something else going on? One thing is certain, someone is lying. But who? And more importantly, why? This remarkable story was developed into a book and a podcast.
The book is by Filip Osselaer: ‘The Man Who Died (then Ordered Mussels, Asked for the Bill, and Disappeared).
The podcast is by AudioCollectief Schik: El Tarangu.
