exhibition: Historical sevens in Leuven
The number seven is an important and symbolic number in many cultures. The history of Leuven is also inextricably linked to the number seven. The city originated from seven families; the court consisted of seven magistrates; there were the seven Leuven wonders; and the Beer City has seven parishes. But are all these sevens historically accurate? The City Archive helps you distinguish 'fake' from 'fact'.

A city archivist is an official responsible for managing the archive. He preserves the archive under optimal conditions, makes it accessible through inventories, and makes it available to any interested citizen. Seven archivists present the city archive of Leuven. Who makes the most passionate plea for this memory of Leuven? It’s up to you to identify the real city archivist of Leuven.

The photo album of Edmond Fierlants is extremely popular. For Heritage Day, we selected seven photos: each one refers to a historical place in Leuven. We confronted these archive photos with seven contemporary photos that refer to the same locations. Or do they? The members of the Academy for the Leuven dialect tell their story with these photos. Real Leuven stories? Or maybe not?
