The water catchment areas at Sint-Jansteen, Clinge and Wilde Landen near Heikant together cover approximately 450 hectares. About two-thirds forest, the rest fields and meadows. The border area in the vicinity of Sint-Jansteen and Clinge is special for several reasons. There is special flora and fauna, which does not occur elsewhere in Zeeland, or only sparingly. This is thanks to the small-scale landscape and the transition from sand to clay. The presence of water extraction, which imposes restrictions on agricultural use, is also a plus.
