The building at Kasteelstraat no. 40 was originally known as the Hof ten Driessche and is now known as the Ransemhoeve. In the 14th and 15th centuries the 's Paepen family owned Hof ten Driessche. From the 15th century to the 18th century, this farmstead was connected to the owners of the fief of Ransem. This is how the new name Ransemhoeve was obtained. The castle of Ransem disappeared at the beginning of the 17th century and was located more to the south of the Ransemhoeve and more towards the forest. The Hof ten Driessche was an Erps island. This farmstead was seized in 1568 because the owner Marie de Fonseca was sympathetic to Protestantism. In the 18th century, the Aulaerts family was a tenant on the farmstead of the noble family of Wissenkercke. In the 19th century, the Salens family lived there. Around 1900 there was a manual dairy and under Alfons Buelens-Salens there was also a butter mill. The farmstead underwent major changes when it was purchased in 1947 by Pierre Boonen, manager of the Kredietbank in Brussels. He transformed this farm into a beautiful mansion. In the side walls of the old building we find the anchors 1660.
