Castle of Walfergem (Castle Wolfrot)

Formerly moated castle with a traditional core, dated by façade stones to 1729, but today strongly renovated and provided in the last quarter of the twentieth century with a neoclassical entrance projection, according to the owner in the style of the earlier appearance, a fact confirmed by old photographs showing a plastered neoclassical country house with rectangular windows featuring shutters and a central entrance risalit. From the former moat, a pond and some earthworks still remain; the surrounding park, accessible in the southeast, was partially sacrificed for contemporary outbuildings and a relatively recent villa (number 21). To the southwest of the castle lies the currently modified orangery, allegedly built in 1851, although the construction is not yet indicated on the Popp map from around 1860 and was registered in the land registry in 1865.
