»»» We leave the car park and turn right into the Schouwvegerstraat, you will see the church on your right. The St. John Baptist Church, named after the patron saint St. John the Baptist, was built in 1400. In 1645 the church was fitted with a transept and aisles and in 1658 a Gothic high choir was added. In 1869-1870 the church received a tower of 42 m. In 1940 the church was destroyed by Belgian soldiers and in 1943 it was rebuilt and consecrated. In this church there is a pulpit from 1730 with the main motif St.-Jan Baptist, a confessional from 1794, a painting by Michel Coxie and a high altar after the plans of the architect Baekelmans and sculpted by Van Wint. In the cemetery there are some old tombstones of the Van Delft family and a large statue of Christ from 1794.
»»» At the end of the schouwvegerstraat you go over the street over the St-Jan Baptiststraat, take the first street on the left into the Reigersbosdreef. »»»
