Characteristic of Zelzate is 'Mietje Stroel', the girl who peed where it suited her. Raised by a smuggler at the Zelzaats landfill, this foundling now has a statue right in front of the town hall, and even her own museum. Mietje Stroel is also known as the official fiancée of Manneken Pis from Brussels. The walker starts at the old bridge house, where the museum of Mietje Stroel is housed and explores the remaining green paths of Zelzate-Oost.
