Living in the Brewery is the name of the association and movement around the Old Brewery in Viersel. The Old Brewery is a place where anyone who wishes can live according to the values of 'silence, simplicity, and togetherness.' The movement was founded in 1970 by the Jesuit Luc Versteylen.
In May 1970, Versteylen decided to extend the school year with a class of fourteen-year-olds from the Xaverius College in Borgerhout until everyone had passed. They found shelter in an old brewery, De Valk, in Viersel, near the Albert Canal.
