Originally this stake mill was located in Impe, where it was known as the Tukmolen. This mill name is derived from miller Tucswer who leased the mill in 1452. The mill was rebuilt in 1763. He stopped grinding in 1959. In 1996-1998 the mill was rebuilt to its current location on the Aatse Heerweg by the bvba 't Gebinte from Erpe-Mere (with Johan De Punt, client Marc De Merlier and the late Luc Ameye). At the top of the Bossenareheuvel, the stake mill is beautifully situated in an open landscape. Not far from the current mill site, until 1939 was the Bossenaremolen, a centuries-old stake mill.
The Nieuwe Bossenaeremolen is thus part of the "mill renaissance of the Flemish Ardennes", with other re-established mills in Huise, Wannegem-Lede and Sint-Denijs-Boekel.
