Adrien Blomme built this building in 1922 on behalf of Benezra, a company dealing in Oriental carpets. It is one of the first achievements in Belgium in the Art Deco style, with a modernist accent due to its sober design.
Adrien Blomme was an architect who was open to new architectural trends and considered himself a modernist. The remarkable facade, where the decorative elements are limited to a minimum, reflects the spatial organization inside. The interior fully meets the originally commercial and tertiary function of the building.
The building represents a key moment in the development of Blomme's work.
