Did you know that in the 15th century Flanders was at the forefront of music? Johannes Cordier, probably from Bruges, sang in the Sistine Chapel for the Pope and other guests from 1468 onwards. After some wanderings in Naples and Milan, where he became quite wealthy, he returned to Bruges to become a canon at St. Donatus Church and work for the Burgundian duke.
