The Dutch art collectors David and Alice van Buuren visited the Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels in Paris in 1925. It was the beginning of a dream. They commissioned the Belgian architects Léon Govaerts and Alexis Van Vaerenbergh in 1928 to build their 'ideal' house on Léo Erreralaan in Uccle.
Between 1928 and 1940, the house grew into a fashionable and intellectual salon in the sense of the 'salons' from the 18th century. The house was visited by the artistic and intellectual elite of that time.
The David and Alice van Buuren Museum has been in existence since 1973.
The museum is open every day from 14:00 to 17:30. Closed on Tuesdays.
