Diksmuide has 14 rural municipalities. Each village has its own parish church and a rural character that exudes a certain charm over the police villages. There are artistic gems among them. One standout is the brightly colored Orthodox church of the Monastery in the Russian rite near Oostkerke. The abbot, Father Thomas, provides explanations about their rite and the numerous icons. Formal attire is desired.
