Diksmuide tiene 14 comunas rurales. Cada pueblo tiene su propia iglesia parroquial y un carácter rural que irradia un cierto encanto sobre los pueblos policiales. Hay perlas artísticas entre ellos. Un caso peculiar es la llamativa iglesia ortodoxa del monasterio de rito ruso cerca de Oostkerke. El abad, el padre Thomas, explica su rito y los numerosos iconos. Se recomienda vestimenta adecuada.
