The current church dates from 1907 and was built on the site where the dilapidated chapel, which had survived the Geuzen disturbances and the time of the Siege of Ostend (1601-1604), once stood. The wooden furnishings date from the period 1725-1775. The oak paneling is a prime example of the Louis XVI style. The pulpit (1727), the beautiful confessionals, the Stations of the Cross by the 19th-century Bruges painter Dobbelaere, the precious tabernacle, and the antique choir stalls deserve attention. The antique sacristy cabinets (1750-1788) contain many treasures. The beautiful monstrance was made in 1644 by the Ghent goldsmith Pieter Van Syghen. The elegant organ from 1750 by Andries Jacobus Berger is also one of the highlights.
