The Our Lady of Blindekenskapel on Kreupelenstraat in Bruges was established, according to tradition, after a promise made in the aftermath of the Battle of Pevelenberg that a candle of 36 pounds would be brought to Our Lady of Potterie every year. This promise was made by the left-behind spouses and mothers as their loved ones would return home safe from the battle.
