The forest and nature area Het Eeuwenhout in the valley of the Douvebeek is a beautiful example of habitat restoration in Heuvelland. After this forest was cleared following World War II, it was reforested with among others, summer oak, forest elder, and lime, under the impulse of the M. Yourcenar Foundation and the Flemish Region. The seed orchard, which surrounds the domain, together with a grain field, provides a food source for many wintering field birds. A part of this area is managed as grazing and hay meadow.
