SYMB 7827
Organized on March 15th 1886 in Constantin Meunier’s workshop by the Universal Wagnerian Association, the performance of the first act of 'The Valkyrie' and of the second scene of 'Twilight of the Gods', both in a translation by Henri La Fontaine, attests to Wagner’s importance for artists. Painters, sculptors, playwrights, poets, and of course musicians would see Wagner as a model.
In 1885, 'L'Essor' devoted a musical session to this composer. Two years later, Delville produced his 'Tristan and Iseult', in a frame of mind mixing opera with the reminiscence of his reading of Villiers de l'Isle-Adam’s Axel.
