Since its opening in 2008, the BIP – Brussels Info Place – welcomes all visitors to the Brussels-Capital region, whether they come from Brussels, other parts of Belgium or abroad.

All information and cultural offers of the Brussels-Capital region are centralized there and presented by ones of the offices of the Tourist Information Center.

“But for me, the truly astonishing invitation to discover Brussels is the “Experience Brussels” exhibit on the first floor of the building. This fun exhibit captivates a wide variety of people, who can discover the origins of the Brussels-Capital region, its role on the international stage, its neighborhoods’ specificities, its heritage, its cultural outreach, and its institutional mysterious workings.

The exhibit presents Brussels in a less official and less classical manner, sometimes even in an extremely unexpected way: hence, a series of interactive installations allows the visitors to discover surprising facets of the city, more informal and closer to the city inhabitants.

I especially like the audio umbrellas room: you can take refuge under an umbrella and listen to the accounts and stories of a wide variety of Brussels inhabitants. Each recording unveils the story of one of the city’s inhabitants, the way he or she grew up or came to settle up in Brussels.”
