The Palace of Fine Arts, since 2002 ‘Bozar’, is a gem of the art deco style, again by the hand of Victor Horta. For the design, he had to take into account a strong slope, worn away by the former Copper Brook, which had its source in the higher Warandepark. Moreover, the height of the building was strictly limited to not obstruct the view from the Royal Palace to the lower city. Horta’s original design is both grand and unobtrusive: he arranged the prestigious concert hall ‘Henry Le Bœuf’, a chamber music hall, and several exhibition spaces like an intricate puzzle in and on the sloping terrain.
Feel free to step inside. The Horta Hall, which, like the ticket hall of the Central Station, enjoys zenithal light, is usually open to the public. The museum shop is also worth a detour.
Walk straight along Bozar via Baron Hortastraat up the stairs. Cross Koningsstraat and continue straight to the circular water basin in the middle of the park.
