Discover the medieval city of Thuin, its postys, alleys, rocky paths squeezed between the two green valleys of the Sambre and the Biesmelle.
You will enjoy the magnificent panoramas of these two valleys. Meander through these timeless hanging gardens, contemplate the recently replanted vines.
Make a well-deserved stop at the bottom of the gardens, at the gardens known as "de la Biesmelle" before setting off again to attack the fortress.
The poems of the Thudinian writer, Mathieu Anciaux, who signed himself under the pseudonym "Jean de la Biesmelle", still attest to what was, at the time, the splendour of the "Hanging Gardens" of Thuin: cascading along the slopes, terraced gardens storied, from the river to the sky, their baskets of plants, fruits and flowers.
It was a marvel at the time when the happy owners cultivated vines and all that the frugality of life demanded at that time.
They have now been restored to their former splendour thanks to a majestic restoration and an adapted circuit. Numerous explanatory panels decorate the walk. Wear good shoes.
