Jemelle is a village in the Belgian province of Namur and a part of the municipality of Rochefort. Jemelle is located about three kilometers east of the city center of Rochefort, at the confluence of the streams Wamme and Lhomme.
According to a legend, the name was conceived by the daughter of the Lord of Rochefort and is a distortion of "je me mêle," which means "I mix myself." This would have been written as "Jememelle," and later shortened to "Jemelle."
