Beervelde was first mentioned in 1309 as Berenvelt. A piece of land was donated to the pastor of Destelbergen, on which a chapel was built. The abbot of the Saint Peter's Abbey appointed the provost of the chapel. Originally, Beervelde existed as a hamlet in Destelbergen. In 1809 it became an independent parish. Only in 1921 did Beervelde become an independent municipality, incorporating some districts from Laarne, Kalken, and Heusden.
