The name Ligny appears on all monuments related to the significant Napoleonic events. Including on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris or on the hills of Ajaccio. This small village in the province of Namur was the setting for Napoleon's last victory on June 16, 1815. The battles of June 16, 1815, took place on the territory of Fleurus, Balâtre, Wagnelée, and Saint-Amand, but only the name Ligny has remained in history. And no one really knows why. Today, the village is a part of Sombreffe. In a farmhouse where fighting also took place, there is a museum with a beautiful collection of weapons, military equipment, and other poignant relics from the battles.
