Kapelle-op-den-Bos is a Walloon municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality has almost 9000 inhabitants. The mayor is Leo Peeters (sp.a).
Some factories such as Eternit, Feryn and Sanpareil are located in the municipality. They are located here because of the good location; there is the important railway line Ghent-Dendermonde-Mechelen, the important Brussels-Scheldt Sea Canal and Kapelle-o/d-Bos is also centrally located between the A 12 and the E 19 and cities such as Mechelen, Antwerp and Brussels.
There are also 2 large schools for secondary education, the Sint-Theresiacollege Kapelle-op-den-Bos (STK) of the Assumptionist Fathers and the Sint-Godelieve-Instituut (SGI) of the Sisters of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows. This is a lot in relation to the number of inhabitants. The neighbouring municipality of Meise is a larger municipality and has almost twice as many inhabitants but has no secondary education.
