The Kruishoutem Castle or Aaishove is a castle bordering Kasteelstraat in Kruishoutem. Its entrance is located at the junction between Kasteelstraat and Colijnstraat.
The castle was built in the 11th century near the source of the Molenbeek, strategically located between the basins of the Scheldt and the Lys. In the 13th century, a fortress with a castle chapel stood there. However, these buildings were completely destroyed during the religious riots of the 16th century. The Mastaing family had the castle rebuilt as it stands today. The castle's properties and the castle itself were declared a protected monument and landscape on December 10, 1973.
The Aaishove castle takes its name from the lordship of Aïshof, which had established its seat there. In the 11th century, this lordship extended between the basins of the Scheldt and the Lys.
