The St. Ambrose Church is made of white sandstone that comes from Dilbeek itself. In Dilbeek and its surrounding municipalities, there were indeed quarries in the past that also provided the building material for the St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral in Brussels and the Our Lady Cathedral in Antwerp.
