The highlight of this museum, located in a former mansion in neo-classical style designed by Bruno Renard, are some ten tapestries dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. They are remarkable not only for their dimensions and their colours, but also for the variety of the materials used and of the narrative scenes. The collection is supplemented with contemporary tapestries and textile art. But this is more than just a museum: the building also houses a workshop for weavers and restorers on the first floor. You can see them at work during your visit to the museum. The museum also serves as a research and experimentation centre and organises training courses. Free admittance every 1st Sunday of the month. ACTIVITIES: International triennial of Tournai Tapestry and Textile Art (from June to September 2014).
