A part of the Chemin Bois du Vicaire is a beautiful example of a hollow way. Due to the incision of the hollow way into the subsoil, you can see the underlying geology of the Hallerbos well here. What will catch your eye is the yellow to orange sand. This yellowish sand belongs to the geological layer of the Brussels Formation, something you will not find in the areas (read Pajottenland) to the west of the Hallerbos. Depending on the content of iron oxides, this Brussels sand has a white, yellow, or red color.
