The watermill, as you see it now, dates from 1910. It was built after the previous mill went up in flames. At first glance, you don't even notice that it's a water mill. The water flows along a canal under the road and through the building. At the back of the building, the sparkling water pours into the mill wheel.
The Meerselmolen is first mentioned in a document by Mr. van Hoogstraten from 1382. It was then only a small, wooden structure, hidden in the then swampy area. Due to fire and war violence, the building often had to be rebuilt over the centuries. Nevertheless, this watermill on the Mark has always been decisive for the village life of Meersel-Dreef. This, for that time modern turbine mill, now forms a special industrial monument. In 1998 it was completely restored and since then it has also been inhabited. You can even relax on the quiet terrace.
