Our Lady of Help Chapel Kastel

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel, located on a triangular, tree-lined plot at the broad beginning of the street, a cut-off former bend of the highway from Moerzeke to Kastel at a fork, now near the corners with De Pannestraat and Vrijboomstraat. This roadside chapel dates back to at least a chapel existing in the second half of the 18th century at the western edge of the built-up core of the hamlet of Kastel. It is marked on the "Carte figurative of the Hamlet of Castel, parish of Moessche ..." (1771-1772) and in the Land Book of Moerzeke (1772-1782). Restored in 1941, see the blue stone commemorating the restoration in the sidewalk in front of the chapel with the inscription: "In the year 1941/ this chapel was restored/ thanks to the generous gift/ of Mr./ Gerard Hollaert."
