Our Lady of the Emergency Chapel, situated on a triangular, tree-lined bed in the wide beginning of the street, a cut-off former bend of the road from Moerzeke to Kastel at a crossroads, now near the corners with De Pannestraat and Vrijboomstraat. Chapel dating back to a chapel that existed at least in the second half of the 18th century on the western edge of the built-up core of the hamlet of Kastel. Indicated on the "Carte figurative of the Gehugte van Castel, prochie van Moessche ..." (1771-1772) and in the Landboek van Moerzeke (1772-1782). Restored in 1941, cf. bluestone memorial stone in the footpath in front of the chapel with the inscription: "Ten jaar 1941/ dit kapel werd restored/ thanks to the generous gift/ of Mr/ Gerard Hollaert".
Brick road chapel on rectangular ground plan with three-sided closure under a gable roof (rounded slates). White and beige painted, cemented facades on plinth with imitation joints. Front gable with round-arched access to portico closed by decorative iron railing and equipped with fanlight with fan. Framing corner pilasters on neuters under circumferential cornice. Gable under kinked roof overhang with top cross. Triangular framed tympanum with blue painted inscription "O.L.V. Ter Nood/ Mater Dolorosa ora pronobis". The prayer room is closed off by a rectangular door with a barred door light. Side walls and rear with flat bands to frame lightly defined panels with recessed corners. On either side two oval oculi are cross-shaped traced and fitted with structured glass.
Plastered and painted white. Painted wooden altar table, with wreathed Marian monogram. Against the back wall, in front of a curved and framed niche with cornice, a polychrome Pietà statue on a pedestal. There are also several statues of Our Lady on the altar. Iron candle holder.
