Christ the King Church and Monastic Order Museum

Church building located at the back, south of the "Christus Koningwijk" on the Oude Aardeweg. Parish for the remote neighborhood of Boskant canonically established by the bishop on December 1, 1971. Since 1965, Mass had been celebrated in the school buildings of the Sisters of Mercy to meet the growing population in the hamlet of Boskant due to the development of new residential areas since the 1950s. Driven by Pastor De Coninck, a new church was built, completed in 1974 according to the cornerstone, and consecrated on February 2, 1975. The accompanying rectory is housed in the former villa of tree nursery Kerkvoorde at Smetledesteenweg no. 18. Simple brick low-rise under flat roofs with shifting volumes; wide entrance portal under a canopy to the south. Tall glazed window sections. Bell in a free-standing bell tower with a cross donated by the De Waele family in memory of their deceased daughter, cf. cornerstone with inscription "Anne De Waele 1972 / so that my voice / may always echo in your hearts ...".
