Sashul

The nature reserve Sashul consists partly of low-lying, moist meadows and partly of an old reclaimed area that has been restructured so that nature could recover here. Due to the sandy subsoil of the reclaimed area, the flora here largely resembles that of a very poor calcareous dune. The lower wet areas and excavated pools attract waders. The most typical breeding birds of this area are the Lapwing and the Little Ringed Plover. A large observation hut is present at the level of the low-lying parts of the reclaimed area. The area is grazed by Shetland ponies.

- The area is freely accessible along the designated roads and paths. Guided nature walks for the general public and groups are organized in this area by Natuurpunt department Knokke-Heist.
