La riserva naturale di Sashul è parzialmente composta da praterie umide e basse e parzialmente da un vecchio terreno bonificato, ristrutturato affinché la natura potesse ripristinarsi. Grazie al sottosuolo sabbioso del terreno bonificato, la flora qui corrisponde in larga misura a quella di una duna molto povera di calcio. Le parti basse e umide e le pozze profonde attirano gli uccelli limicoli. Le specie di uccelli nidificatori più tipiche di questo terreno sono il Piviere e il Piccolo Piviere. A livello delle parti basse del terreno bonificato si trova un grande capanno di osservazione. L'area è pascolata da pony Shetland.
