Boundaries of infinity

Norbert Francis Attard is a Maltese artist, trained as an architect. For Beaufort04, he created a permanent installation in the square in front of the Town Hall of De Panne. The concrete water feature contains a vertical sculptural element based on the Fibonacci sequence and the perfect shapes of the Golden Ratio. In words, each element of the Fibonacci sequence is the sum of the two preceding elements, starting with 0 and 1. This sequence often occurs in nature, among other things in the growth of plants and flowers, the reproductive behavior of animals, and the shape of shells. The spiral figure based on the Fibonacci sequence thus symbolizes the perfect form, the infinity of nature, and the grandeur of the sea.
