Funerary monument, designed by the Ypres city architect Anja Schepers and unveiled on 29 July 2000. The upright stone was the keystone of the former entrance gate of the barracks of 'The Liverpool Scottish' (10th King's Battalion) in Liverpool. After their barracks were demolished, the stone with the badge of the '10th Bn Liverpool Scottish' was donated to the City of Ypres. Employees of the In Flanders Fields Museum proposed to place this keystone at the head of 'Bellewaarde Ridge', the place where the 'Liverpool Scottish' lost more than 400 men in an attack on 16 June 1915 (about half of whom were killed).
