The outline of the Château du Fosteau stands out at the top of a hill overlooking the surrounding fields. This imposing 14th century fortified house is still crowned with four towers. The Lords of Semousies, of Sars, followed by the Lords of Zwenne, Marotte, Henry, Jamblines and Aoust conscientiously developed the living quarters around the central donjon. In this building is one of the finest gothic rooms in Belgium. Very beautiful sober French gardens, arranged in successive terraces covered with turf, unfurl down to the pond. The castle became a classified monument and the surroudings a classified site in 1979. The castle also has a beer that can be bought or enjoyed during one of the guided tours. A small chemist’s museum is well worth discovering in one of the castle’s rooms. Adapted furniture allows visitors to take a bucolic walk dotted with stopping points to admire the sculptures that have been perfectly integrated into the setting.
