This local stone upper porter at a height of 112.5 meters was built in 1834 to replace a stake mill that already existed in 1571. In 1588 it was called "Ter Gheynst". In 1831, the wooden predecessor was destroyed by lightning. The tar from this former mill is still under the floor. In the 17th century, the mill was owned by the Baron of Pamele and Lord of Oudenaarde. The mill was thoroughly renovated in 2004-2005, it has been a protected monument since 1960.
