The bridge forms a connection between the Avroy district and the Longdoz district. The Rue du Parc is named after the Parc de la Boverie in Longdoz.
The first bridge was from 1866 and was then called Pont des Commerces, named after the Bassin des Commerces, an inland port in Avroy that was converted into a park due to limited success. Toll was charged on the bridge.
