The Schans van Smoutakker or Redoute van Smoutakker is a redoubt and part of the fortress line around Antwerp and is situated in the municipality of Stabroek. The redoubt was built in 1906 and had a 7.5 cm cannon. However, the fort had a short life. The retreating Belgian army blew up the fort on October 10, 1914. There were some casualties to mourn. In 1958, the remains were publicly sold to a merchant from Antwerp. His plans to build a house there were not executed because the anti-tank ditch could potentially become a towing canal. It wasn't until 1999 that Natuurpunt was able to purchase and clear the domain thanks to support from Indaver.
