The Elzenwallekasteel is a castle located along the Kemmelseweg in Voormezele, a part of Ypres. The current castle was built in 1921. The name is derived from the humid environment that was suitable for planting alder bushes. The original castle dated back to the 18th and 19th centuries and was situated in the middle of a walled park. Later, some remnants of this older castle, such as columns and statues, were placed in this park. To the east of the castle lay De Plas, a hamlet where, among others, staff members of the castle lived.
