The Brandkreekpolder is a polder north of Sint-Margriete, belonging to the Island and Brandkreek polders.
The polder was created by damming the Brandkreek, which was created as a line in 1622. This happened in 1711, when the border between the States and the Austrian Netherlands meandered through the polder, which was already winding and elongated. This part of the border is now the Belgian-Dutch border and is indicated by the border posts 332-335. The eastern part of the Brandkreek became a separate polder, the Krakeelpolder. Here you will find the boundary markers 330-332. The Dutch part of the polder is 105 hectares in size, the Belgian part is about the same size.
