Fish passages on the Daelemansloop

On the Daelemansloop there was an old weir where the water fell almost a meter. Not a single fish could pass through this waterfall. To ensure that the fish can still swim past the weir, a long fish ladder was built. It consists of 18 thresholds in rubble stone that follow each other and ensure that the fish can swim step by step above the weir. Because most of these thresholds are underwater, you don't see much of them. By making this connection, the fish can spread over a larger part of the watercourse. This is important to get a large and stable population that will increase the value of the stream and the surrounding area. The fish ladder also ensures that the water level intended by the weir remains unchanged.
